Michael (Micheál) Murphy

Michael was a lovely teenager who spent many happy days with us in Armagh. My grandmother was his mother's sister Susan.

My sincere condolences to Michael's wife Mary and family and to the extended Murphy family on Michael's sad passing. I remember Michael returning to his duties as Dean in the Study Hall of St Macartan's, shortly after he had kicked the winning point for Clontibret in the 1968 county final. The silence was broken with a spontaneous round of applause by the students. Michael gratiously acknowledged the gesture but quickly insisted on the resumption of silence. He was a great fan of Val Doonican then, whose songs we students were encouraged to sing. May his soul rest in peace.

Uncle Michael's life exemplified love, acceptance of others, compassion and wisdom. He had a pure heart, led by his unwavering and dedicated relationship with God. We can take comfort in knowing that his spirit is free and the angels are rejoicing as they welcome a brother amongst them. I will forever cherish the fond memories I have of times spent with Uncle Michael.

My sincerest condolances to Mary and family on the passing of Michael. I volunteered with Michael in SVP. He had such a gentle way about him when we were on home visits. In recent times I always seemed to bump into himself and Mary shopping in OMNI Shopping Centre. He never failed to ask how Miriam and Daniel were. God Bless you Michael for all your kindness and may you be enjoying your reward in Heaven.
