Michael (Mick) Duggan

Our deepest sympathies to Philomena, Stephen, Pamela, Barry and the extended Duggan family. I had great respect for Michael (as we always called him) because, like George Long, he had worked with my father Tom in Tassaggart (now Citywest), before the three of them moved to Rath Lawns. One very nice memory we have is of visiting Philomena, Stephen and Pamela at their cottage in Saggart. Another memory is of Michael surprising us by turning up at the door one night in early 2001 after my mother died. It was so thoughtful of him. I remember the two of us sitting side by side in armchairs, chatting like old friends. The last time I saw him, he told me funny stories about his recent medical history, as we shared a laugh outside Spar. It was very moving to hear the readings, prayers and reflections at his online Funeral (Rev. David led the Mass so respectfully), especially the eulogy from Barry, with his young companion by his side (one who looked so like Michael and Philomena). It was a lovely tribute, with some powerful closing words: 'Slán, a Dhaidí'. Our thoughts and prayers are with Michael's family and many friends at this time.
