Michael (Mick) Farrell

So sorry to hear of Mick's passing. I worked with him when I first joined the Department in 2000, he was a character and always spoke so fondly of his wife and family. Sincere sympathy to you all at this sad time.

Really sorry to hear of Mick's passing. Like Tony Kenny below, was one of the large group that worked with Mick in Housing Grants in the 1980s, great memories and happy times - a very witty character with some great one-liners. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.

My sincere condolences to the Farrell family on Mick’s passing. I worked with Mick in Housing Grants in O’Connell Bridge House in the early 1980s in the then Dept of Environment. Mick was some character, always up for a laugh and great fun too. The craic we had with Mick was something else, a bunch of about 30 young boys and girls just out of school finding our way in life and all working in the one section with Mick. You can just imagine the scene! And Mick holding court, dispensing wisdom, telling stories and jokes and slagging in equal measure…..and The Dubs too. Oh what fun we had, so many happy memories with Mick. May he rest in peace.

Mick was an absolute gentleman. Every Wednesday evening spent in the Rec, when I got to share in his company was an absolute pleasure. He always brought great fun and laughter to the conversation.
I will truly miss his sharp wit, sense of humour and most notably, his rendition of 'South of the Border'.
My thoughts are with his family at this time - particularly Pauline, whom I know loved and cared for him dearly.
