My sincerest condolences to Jo and all of the family. Mick was amiable, smart, funny and so full of life. May he rest in peace.
Our deepest condolences to our loving friend Jo on the passing of your beloved Mick; to Michael, Eileen, Sineád, Rob, Mark; grandchildren Bella, Paul, Bobby and Fionn; to Fintan, Rosemarie, Louise, and the extended Gibney family. The loss of Mick is immeasurable: his deep personal qualities of kindness, friendship, humour, generosity, intellectual brilliance, and vibrant company touched so many lives. As friends, our lives were so enriched by knowing and loving him; we treasure great memories of the many good times spent in Mick’s and Jo’s company. Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann. Journey on Mick...

"When orchids brighten the earth,
Darkest winter has turned to spring;
May the dark grief flower with hope
In every heart that loves you.

May you continue to inspire us:”

(John O’ Donoghue, On the Death of the Beloved, Benedictus)
I just learned of Mick's passing last night and wanted to express my deep condolences to his family and friends. Alongside his myriad accomplishments and many friendships, he was a great enthusiast and active member of Blackrock Tennis & Bowling Club and he was a great help to me when we were managing a sports and social club during the pandemic - he kindly and helpfully supplied scientific expertise. He will be missed - what a thoroughly nice man.
To Mike’s family - I learned just this week of his death. It’s unspeakably sad for you to lose his future decades. Mike was a one-man celebration of humanity. I think of the great discussions, great arguments and wonderful fun.
So sad to hear of Michael’s passing my great admiration for him came from my years as a dairy farmer representative on the national dairy council he almost single handed thook on Richard mulcahy on thegreat butter versus margarine debate and to thegreat benefit of Irish dairy farmers he helped to restore consumers confidence in butter he was so articulate and confident it’s unknown how much he benefited Irish farmers the sod will rest lightly on him
I’m so sorry to hear this sad news, I knew Mike from his time in Glen of the Downs Golf club and it was always a pleasure to play with him. May he rest in peace
