Deepest sympathy to Iris, Orlaith, Rory, Elaine and extended Martin and Moyles families. Affectionately known in the post office,telecom eireann and eircom as M.F. Martin. Mick the big brother I never had, a leader that many followed but could not equal. His craftsmanship in lead cable plumbing could still be admired below the streets of Tullamore I am sure. Many the long day and night spent in a tent on the side of the road getting the midlands communications up and running after a cable had been damaged. Our Mick was sure to be there.
The father figure that guided many of our younger colleagues in the early days. Having the pleasure of sitting around manys the negotation table with our I.P.O.E.U/ C.W.U. hats on was always a pleasure to behold especially at district level. When Mick spoke management listened. His passion for justice and fairness he always wore on his sleve.
The go to man when you wanted advice or help lots of which Mick did and no one ever knew. The leader of the crack in the back of the gang truck or the canteen. The one liners that cut the feet from under you leaving everyone in the stitches including the one that was the target.
Until we meet again my friend keep a nice spot for us that still have to get to our eternal rest. Even in your departing Mick you are a leader that many will follow. Thanks Mick for been a good friend for so many years for the things I learned from you, Good by my friend gone but never Forgotten
