I am very sad to hear of the passing of my uncle Mick.
Deepest condolences to his wife and family.
As a child, Mick was always a fascination to me and i remember well opening one of his mysterious cases to discover a glistening, pearl like banjo sitting inside.
I dont blame him for my life in music but he shoulders some responsibility !
He also took me for my first pint down by the river but thats another story.
I'll play a couple of bluegrass tunes on the bouzouki tonight in his memory.

My mother(Noreen Lynch/Green Lawn) and I spoke yesterday of the Butcher's days back in Turners Cross. Mick and his dad. The carcasses, sawdust, always a sweet for us kids. Mick was there at the start of my life in Sound, with Stokers Lodge. I mixed him, recorded him, many times. Always a pleasure. I met him at random only a short time ago. We hadn't seen each other in a while. It was as if we had met yesterday. Lovely easy funny chat, same as it ever was. There goes a Gentle Man.

We are very saddened to hear of Michael’s passing. We only got to know him in latter years as Maeve’s Dad , here in Lavitt’s Quay.
