Michael (Mickey) CONNOLLY

I wish to express my deepest sympathy to all the Connolly family on the death Michael(Mickie). I knew him for the greater part of my life and especially in a period circa 1960. We were both involved in trying to raise Fuerty GAA from a short period of being in the doldrums. We cycled through the parish trying to get a decent field for players to practise. We ran a draw to raise money to buy a set of jerseys and a new football. In more recent years the first card of Christmas was always his. I met him at games here in Athleague and the proudest day was in Croke Park when Fuerty contested the All-Ireland Junior Final. I also met him a number of times at Ruislip. I could write a fair bit more on Mickie and his qualities but there are restrictions on how much one can post here. When I think of him I think of the footballer he liked the best, in the sixties, he being Christy Devine. No truer Gael existed than Mickie Connolly. May he now rest in peace.

We have wonderful memories of him calling to our home too visit for many years. We enjoyed his visits and catching up with him. May Michael Rest In Peace. Thinking of you all at this time.
