Michael (Mickey Mac) McTiernan

So sad to hear this news. Only met him a few times since I moved to Wexford 40 years ago but each time we bumped into each other the conversation and craic flowed like we were back in the oul Tarf days. Fond memories always Mickey. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a ainm.

Sad to hear Mickey Mac died. A very likeable boy became a very likeable man. In a very tense cup match in man o’ war his caught-and-bowled of their best player was one of the finest moments in cricket that I ever saw.

I played cricket and hockey with Mickey in Harlequins for many years and it was always a pleasure to be in his company. Many is the sing song we had together. Mickeys favorite . If I was a rich man.! I'm so sorry for your loss when it comes to one life's great people. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to play with Micky Mac in Quins before I moved from the mardyke but it was an honour to take the field with "Topal". We played together with Munster in the Guiness Cup for a few years and a lot of people were correct in mentioning his brillant company after the match but people may have missed his indepth knowledge of the game, especially spin bowling and setting fields to his methods of that art. Could have played at a higher level .. who knows but being remembered as a good person that impacted others is way better. Peace and Rest is what all above will need when Micky Mac arrives. God help em!!!

I am devastated to hear about the passing of the man I knew as Mickey Mac.

He was a true gentlemen with a mischievous sense of humour best illustrated by him beeping his scooter every time he saw me getting close to him in the Beachcomber.

He had a heart of gold, wax witty but he was also a fighter. I didn’t unfortunately know Mickey for very long but I was struck by his fortitude and determination to enjoy life despite the challenges life had thrown at him.

I am a better person for having known you Mickey Mac and you will always be in my mind.

RIP my friend and my sincerest condolences to the family on his untimely passing.
