It was with sadness I read of the death of Michael. It brought me back to when my mum , Monica, brought me to the theatre to see such wonderful plays. I clearly remember Michael taking the lead roll in Ghosts by Ibsen. He was such a wonderful actor. He inherited his parents kind and gentle ways, and will always be remembered as one of Corks leading actors.
Margaret, Mary, and Martin, please accept my sympathy on your great loss.
May Michael rest in peace.
Emelie and I were deeply saddened to hear of Michael's death. He was such a fine actor, and a wonderful man to work with. We have very fond memories of our time with him in The Loft, where he gave outstanding performances as Brutus, Hamlet, MacDuff, Romeo, Orlando and many others. As it happened, we had just attended a Loft centenary celebration - where the passing of Pat Gunn was in everyone's mind - when we heard of Michael's demise. Our fondest sympathies to Maggie, Mary and Martin.
Deepest sympathy to all the Loughnan family. I remember him playing Brutus in "Julius Caesar" of which the final lines apply so aptly to Michael:-

“His life was gentle; and the elements
So mixed in him, that Nature might stand up
And say to all the world, THIS WAS A MAN!”
My memories go back to heading down Wilton Road to meet up with Jim Murphy and Michael .We then headed over back wall of Loughnan s house to Dennehy s field .Here we played out our vision of sport including Athletics.(The latter had prizgiving of old comics !!!.

May Michael rest in peace

On behalf of the family of Pat Gunn, can I say how sorry we are to hear that Michael has passed away.

Pat and Michael were tremendously close and shared a passion for acting that was ignited in "The Loft". Pat (Dad) thoroughly enjoyed meeting Micheal on his many visits to Cork and was very recently referencing him in discussions with the family before he died.

Unfortunately, Pat passed away on the 14th August this year and the proximity to Michael's death is quite coincidental.

May Michael Rest in Peace.
Margaret, Mary, Martin and Ellen. We are very sorry that Michael has died. You will miss him greatly and we will fondly remember his genial company and his infectious good humor on the occasions when he visited us in Cork. His great acting talent thankfully remains available for all to see. He was indeed someone it was a privilege to know and love.
