Michael (Mike) Scanlon

There are moments in life when love arrives softly, almost unnoticed.
We spend years searching, wondering, waiting for the right one...
and then suddenly, without even realizing it, we find ourselves looking into the eyes of the person who feels like home. Michael was my home. I don’t want to just say condolence, I want to convey it. First, to Mum (Ester). Thank you so so much for birthing and raising a man like Michael. I want and need you to know you are the reason Michael got out of bed. Whether in pain or sick he’d say I want to work for my mum, she’s the reason I live, and he always beamed about your thrift store trips. Aiden you have an old soul and that’s what Michael loved most he was in awe of you. Henry he loved and was proud of the family man you are. Connie he said he used to have the most fun with you. Philip he looked up to you. Maggie he wanted to make you proud. Kevin he secretly strived to be you. Marie he would talk about your work ethic and Angela for you he would say the niece’s you gave him they’re perfect. Uncle Henry you were spoke of daily in our house and in such high regard. He told the best stories with such zest and enthusiasm I can’t help but love you all for happy memories you gave him. The love you all bestowed upon him enabled him to love me all the more. Thank you.

To say we’re all hurting is an understatement. There’s something soul crushing about losing a loved one. It’s like they take with them what you had together and you feel it gone. Although it was only a piece, you are left feeling empty and completely depleted. People say sorry for your loss but all I feel is lost. I thought with my mom went the remainder of my heart. I had not yet lost the piece that means the most. The one I did anything for, just to see him smile. The one i chose to have in my life as a partner, a friend, a constant. Michael gave me unwaveringly, unconditional, unconventional love that most will never experience ever. It was the safest, softest, warmest, most beautiful love. Michael was king (and Queen) and I was his princess. The support Michael gave me and most people was invaluable and is irreplaceable. The pain is incomprehensible. He was too alive to now be gone. Most of us wouldn't mind eternal rest. Not him he wanted to live forever and figure out everything…. or at least talk about it.

I saw his death on RIP n was very saddened to learn that michael had died. I have very fond memories when we were all younger and visited your home on many occasions, and your mum was so kind and all your family made me feel welcome. Micheal was too young to die. I was delighted to meet you Margaret n your mum at my sister Geraldine mass in Ardagh n had a little catching up. I hope God will comfort you all in you time of sorrow at the lost of Michael. I only happen to meet you both over the summer after many many years and we had a great chat.I was very sorry to hear about Mike.R.I.P. My Father Haulie knew him well from his tine at Madigans and was talking about him last weekend saying what a lovely fella he was.
