Sincere sympathy to the McGowan Family on Michael's passing. I was very fortunate to work closely with Michael for more than 10 years. He was a very quiet, deep, sincere man. It took time to gain his trust but he repaid it in spades. His knowledge of Radio, Data and Music was remarkable. What he didn't know about Bits, Bytes and Protocols wasn't worth knowing. He was self-taught. His Lab in Enfield was a Mecca for his work and hobbies! He could walk the talk! ESB Networks benefitted greatly from his endless hours of R&D. He was one of my scoring forwards! His quick departure is a great shock to all of us. Farewell great colleague and good friend.

I had the pleasure of working with Mick quite a lot during my last few years in ESB Telecoms.
He was always trying to learn all the new tech stuff and pass on his experiences from his area of expertise.
After work we would get together for chats, and the odd tipple, and I have fond memories of sitting chatting about music with Mick late into the night.
He was always great company and will be sadly missed.
