Dear Emer,
Just to tell you how sorry I was to hear of Mick's passing. We had great years together in Revenue and you knew us all as much as we knew you. Mick was a very bright, entertaining and decent person and was such a part of our group. For me he will forever be captured in my memory of special years in a group of special people and his personality will always be what I remember. Mick was curious, intelligent, and a font of knowledge and I think he got the best out of life on his terms.
I will always remember him with affection. May he rest in peace. God bless. Paul

Shocked to hear of the sad news of Mick's death all too young. We had great fun in the old days with our friend Bernie whom I met Mick through when I lived near Rathmines. I knew Mick in the Civil Service from 1983 and subsequently met him many times around Rathmines. I am very sad to learn of his passing. The world is all the poorer for his loss.

Very sorry to hear of Mick's passing. I spoke to him on the phone when he was in St. James's and he sounded strong and positive and was determined to get home for a few week to have a "parting glass" with all his friends. I knew Mick through my great friend Bernadette Lowry. He was wonderful company with a brilliant mind from whom I learned so much about how Government functions. He was a distinguished senior civil servant who would have gone even further but for his health. May he rest in peace. Dr. Michael Casey

It was consoling to see Mick laid out so beautifully in the funeral home today. He looked peaceful and just as he appeared in life. I didn’t know Mick very well but on the few occasions we met I found him friendly witty and great company. I’m sure all his family and friends will miss him greatly. Rest in peace

Mick will be a great loss. He has a great mind and a great intellect and also a wonderful optomistic disposition. His mind remained active until the end and he was reading the Irish Times until days before his death. He never complained in his last two years of great physical restriction and he remained very cheerful. He was a wonderful neighbour and friend. He will be greatly missed. Sorry to hear of Michael's passing Emer. He had an intelligent sense of humour.

I saw Mick yesterday only hours before his death in St. James's. We both knew the end was fairly near but yet, it is hard to believe it has come to pass. In a nutshell: Mick was a legend: unique, intellectually very brilliant, a friend and the very best of humankind. An irreplaceable loss. Mick died all too young. Mick, we: me, my husband and son will miss you and remember you. So, will Toffee our dog who loved to visit Mick around the corner. RIP.
