For as far back as I can remember he was always a part of the village and always a big chat when you’d meet him and asking for all the family especially my two aunts,always! The kindest soul. To the lovely Family of Michael.... Colm and i were so honoured to join you for Michael's Funeral Mass yesterday, and to say our goodbye to such a Special man,we got to know, over the years in Oran. He worked so hard in this Village, with so much pride in his work, and always ready to stop and have a chat, with a beaming smile,BUT only when he completed his work, as diligence and attention to detail, was his second name! How lovely to hear the moving ,and at times,funny tribute his dear Brother, Robert paid to him at the Mass, and one could hear a pin drop, when he looked over to Michael's coffin and sang to him a moving Song ' never grow old' Also, .what a tribute those friends of his paid to him, in lining up with their tractors, to escort him to his Final Resting Place. How he must have smiled to look down and see the affection he was held in.! A light has Truly Gone Out. Rest in peace Michael. Maura and Colm (Heery)and Family,Beech Grove,Oranmore.

He was a feature of Oranmore life for as far back as I can remember (early on - working in our shop in Oranmore). He was his own man, a great wit and always ready to offer a helping hand.
