Michael was a frequent visitor to my childhood home in Rathdrum, and subsequently in Sandymount, because of his friendship with my mother - originally Kitty Kelly, from Kilrush and Ennis - and our mutual life long friend - Austin Mescal. As a child, I remember Michael as a gentle, shy soul. May he rest peacefully.

The annual Ballykett visit was the highlight of Sr Goretti's summer trip from London. He often gave her a couple of heads of lettuce from the glasshouse. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

I first met Michael when I worked in Bank of Ireland Kilrush in 1964 and as l moved around Munster Michael aways called to see me.
Later when married Michael often stayed with us in Waterford and we enjoyed his visits
Called to meet him in Kilrush a few years ago.
Michael with his film star looks and impeccable dress was a perfect gentleman.
