My deepest sympathies to the Murphy family. I am very saddened to just learn of Michael's passing. I completed a teaching practice in St Thomas'SNS 30 years ago and was privileged to go on and work under Michael's guidance for a few years as a newly qualified teacher. Michael valued, respected supported & encouraged his staff. My experience in Jobstown has a special place in my heart. As has my time teaching water safety on Thursday nights with Michael, Eamonn & a great crew. I am very grateful to have shared many good times in his company.
May he rest in peace.
To Mary and family, I offer my deepest sympathy on the death of Michael. He was a great man, and I had the absolute pleasure to work with him on the Water Safety Education Commission for many years. He was the perfect chairperson - working with everyone to achieve the very important outcome of implementing Swimming and Water Safety into the Primary School Curriculum, and then leading the team to ensure that students were able to achieve the Primary Aquatics Water Safety (PAWS) awards. Because of Michael's vision and ability to realise this vision, tens of thousands of children in Ireland have had Water Safety and Swimming training. He has left an amazing legacy, postively effecting many who will never have known him. I loved working with him, he was so supportive and organised, his sense of humour coming to the fore at all times. Of course, our mutual love of all things GAA gave us an extra link!
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilís.

Mr Murphy was a great principal in St Thomas’s school. Condolences to his family & friends.
Deepest condolences to the Murphy family.
As a past pupil, I have very fond memories of Michael. A very genuine person, an inspiration to all the children who passed through the doors and a man of integrity. I left primary school in the 80’s, and I met Michael one day in Dublin airport in the early 2000’s. I recognised Michael immediately and to my surprise he remembered me. Many a troubled child was helped back on the straight and narrow by Michael Murphy. A man who truly made a difference to the lives of others. Slàn

Sincere sympathy to Mary, Eamonn, Declan and Catherine on the death of your beloved Michael — husband and
father. We were saddened to hear he had passed away. He was such an inspiring person, family man, and teacher
most supreme. He always put the interests of others above his own, and was forever there to offer a helping hand
when needed. He leaves a void in Roselawn, where he was highly regarded and loved. Indeed he was highly
respected and loved much further afield. To the wider Murphy family we offer our deepest condolences.
Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time!

May Michael’s kind soul rest in eternal peace.

Sincere condolences to Mary and family on the death of your dear Michael. May the good Lord help all of you through this sad time.
Deepest Condolences to Mary, Eamonn, Declan and Catherine.
I first met Michael at Water Safety National competitions when himself and Sean Murphy were in charge of scores. When I got involved at National level he was a great mentor always offering support...I used his wise advice often. He was passionate about Water Safety education. Through his vision and connections with the Dept of Education and others, he devised the Primary Aquatics Water Safety programme. This had both a pool base and class base section...realising that all children did not have access to pools. He insisted that this be delivered free to schools and secured funding for that. He saw Water Safety introduce a dedicated Education Officer. This programme is still growing with schools and is a great legacy of Michael's. Rest in peace Michael.
