I would like to express my deepest sympathy to all The O Connor family.
I first met Michael many moons ago in Sydney Australia. We were both truck drivers and because of our love of trucks, built a friendship that lasted thirty plus years. Michael was a very kind soul, if you needed help he would always go out of his way to help.
In his last years we always looked forward to Michael calling with myself and Dawne on a Wednesday. On a nice sunny day Michael would enjoy sitting out in the garden where we would have lunch and a chat, he was very knowledgeable and loved history.
We miss Michael dearly and draw strenght in knowing he got his wish being able to return to his beloved Ireland and was surrounded by his loving family .

My deepest condolences to all the O’Connor family on the sad passing of Michael. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Michael came to Australia in October 1970 the same year and month my late wife Rosie and I arrived. Fate brought us to the same shore, and from those early days, our paths often crossed. When he began in the haulage business in Sydney in the late ’70s, I met him through my small repair workshop. I remember the care in his hands and the sparkle in his eye as he worked on his Kenworth truck a master mechanic whose skill and attention to detail could humble any genius.
Years later, when Michael finished his time behind the wheel, I bought that same Kenworth from him. I restored its paintwork and signwriting, but its heart the engine Michael tended with devotion never faltered. It now rests in my workshop, proudly gleaming, and each day I pass by, I whisper a quiet hello, Michael.
In later years we often talked for hours on the phone or in person about world affairs, Gardner engines, and everything between. Those conversations, filled with wisdom, humour, and kindness, will stay with me always.
It is with great sadness I say goodbye to my dear friend Michael. Yet I know he rides beside me still in heart, in spirit, and in the steady hum of that old Kenworth.
