Deepest sympathies to all the O Brien family and extended families on their most heartfelt loss. Another of the leading lights of Community Radio in Kilkenny to have left us. I knew Mike before the KCR days in Balllycallan as a talented keyboard player with his band on the pub circuit in Kilkenny. In ‘79 we were both fellow “pirates” on KCR and he was a big support to me in my early days there. You always felt the better for meeting him wherever it was.
He will be sadly missed from the airways by his regular listeners. Mike, you won’t have to take “Three Steps To Heaven” or do any “Knocking On Heaven’s Door” God will just say “ Welcome Home”.
