I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Anne and the family of Michael. I was saddened to hear of his recent passing. Michael was my Physics teacher in St Kieran’s College and I have fond memories of his gentle manner and the absolutely fantastic notes he provided us with. Without those notes I wouldn’t have got an A in the Leaving Cert which I very much needed. He was one of, if not the, best teachers I had in SKC and I’ve never forgotten all he did for me. He was someone I think you could be very proud of.

I was very saddened to hear about Michael’s passing. He modeled what it means to be a gentleman providing a great example to the Kieran’s lads over the years including myself. Our science class of 1986 was very fond of him and we had some great laughs together. Condolences to Anne and family and best wishes through this tough time.

Condolences to the O'Dwyer family at this sad time. I reckon I gave Michael a hard time in Kieran's College but he was always a gentleman and one of the few I remember fondly. May he rest in peace.

My deepest sympathy to Anne and family. I remember Michael and his brother Liam (Bill) walking up to Semple Stadium in Thurles on Munster Hurling Final days in proud support of their native Tipperary. I also see him scanning the books at Fethard Book Fair in early February to add to his collection. Along with Liam, Michael made a sterling contribution to recording the history of their native Emly, once an archdiocesan centre. In exile in Kilkenny, Michael became a chronicler of the city and county in many publications and was a long-time member of the Kilkenny Archaeological Society. He was a civic republican of the highest order.

Librarian at Rothe House for many years during which time he assisted so many students, authors, everyone who visited and asked for help, which continued long into his retirement with visits to College Gardens where they were always kindly welcomed.
