Michael was our next door neighbour when we lived in Coolnamuck. We could not have wished for a better neighbour. Michael was a lovely person and our family greatly valued his friendship. Very sad news indeed of the passing of a very dear neighbor and friend. Fiona and I were very blessed to have been able to catch up with Michael for a chat on our many return visits to Ireland. My sincerest sympathy to Michaels family. Such fond memories of collecting the milk many years ago before we headed for Australia. We all loved Michael, he was such a lovely neighbour. My parents Tom & Ursula thought very highly of their friendship with Michael. I’m sure he will be meeting up with them soon. May he rest in peace Elizabeth

I was very sorry to hear about Michael passing. I spent a lot of time as a child with Michael and Eammon. They used to give me odd jobs around the place, like watching the grister or sweeping the floor when they were having breakfast. I was only six or seven so it was nothing too hard but this germinated an interest in farming in me. They would often share their breakfast with me which was porridge followed by bread and jam. I remember clearly sitting on Michaels knee in the David Brown red tractor with the yellow wheels and spreading the muck from the dairy out on the pasture. They would also take advantage of my small hands to clean out their harvester. It was these two men who inspired me to take up farming in Australia and they have always been in my thoughts when working the land here. May he rest in peace and his memories live on.
