We in 'Sailing in Dublin' offer our deepest sympathy to Joan and family on your great loss.
Our past and present members always greatly appreciated Michael for all his support, mentorship and the sailing opportunities he has provided many us over the years.
Michael's background in Glenans meant that he related to the ethos of it's spin-off club here in Dublin.
Many of the club members were lucky enough to sail with Michael both in Dublin Bay races and cruises to places far and wide. We benefited from his skill, experience, story telling and patience not only around the cans but also to places as far afield as Iceland, Norway and the Baltic sea aboard many happy vessels from his first boat through two Axioms and finally on Iolar Mara. We salute you Michael and may the wind always be with you. Rest in Peace in eternal seas.

My most heartfelt condolences to Joan, Anna, Sarah and Eoin on the loss of the wonderful Michael. I had the honour and pleasure of both racing and cruising with Michael aboard Axiom, he was a kind and gentle soul who always took great care about the comfort of his crew. Michael was great company, funny, intelligent and wise with a little bit of devilment thrown into the mix. He was hugely proud of his lovely family and it never took much to get him chatting about you and beaming with pride. His loss will be felt by many of us for a long time to come, he was one of a kind.
