Very sorry to hear this evening of Michael’s passing. I remember in Oxfam Ireland his kindness and generosity to colleagues and to new people joining the organisation. He was someone who would always make time to help others. A great communicator who always helped our media work especially on KFM. My sincere condolences to Clare and other family members and friends.

I was very saddened and shocked to hear of Michael’s sudden passing. I had the privilege of working with Michael during his time with CAFOD and Trocaire in South Sudan. He was a pleasure to work with. He was always very welcoming, hardworking and very committed to helping those in need. He was a great communicator and was so well liked and respected by all who worked with him. My sincere sympathies to his entire family and especially to Clare who Michael spoke so lovingly of. May he rest in peace.

I remember calling the O’Riordan house in Clane so often and being welcomed by you all. When Michael I and renewed that O'Riordan-Buckley friendship through the Red Cross, it was as though the years melted away. Michael was a true friend to all of us.

Michael was a lovely, gentle man and a true humanitarian, who worked with great commitment and diligence for CAFOD and Trocaire in very difficult circumstances in South Sudan from 2016 to 2018. He had enormous empathy and a great way of communicating the struggles of the people of South Sudan, and their ability to encounter those challenges in a very personable and dignified way. My deepest condolences to Clare, whom he spoke so often and lovingly about, and to all his family. May he rest in peace.

He was to me, a wonderful, kind and caring man, and it's clear that he will be so dearly missed by many, especially his daughter Claire and his siblings.
