John, my heartfelt condolences to you

I’m shocked and saddened to hear of Michael’s sudden passing, he was a truly wonderful warm person and it was my pleasure to call him a friend.
Rest in peace Michael

I have just heard the very sad news of Michael’s sudden death. I send my deepest sympathy to Michael’s brother John and to his family, friends and work colleagues. During my 19 years in TCD his was often the good-humoured voice of sanity and calm when at my wits end, surrounded by cardboard, polystyrene and wires, I gratefully followed his instructions. I was lucky to work in Aras an Phiarsaigh not just because I could easily bring staff pcs down to the Helpdesk and get face to face advice but I so often got to share jokes with Michael and the other staff and wave hello each morning and goodbye in the evening. Rest in peace Michael.

I am so saddened to hear of the news about Michael. Like many of us in College, I had contact with him from early on with IT matters and he always lightened and brightened the situation. There was always a smile that you could hear in his voice on the phone or that you could see, across the cobbles. Thank you for your expertise and for your lovely and fun collegiality. This was too early to go. Thinking of those close to you. College will not be the same. You won't be forgotten.

So sad to hear of Michael's passing. He was a great colleague and always had a kind word and a bright smile. He was super on the phone and in person and had an answer for each and every IT issue. He always left you with the problem solved and with a smile. I will miss seeing him around.

My fond memories of Michael are as the most kind, thoughtful, intelligent and gentle soul with a smile that brightened everyone's day. Thank you Michael for the years of friendship, and for so many happy times both in Ireland and when visiting John in London. It was a privilege to have known you.

As the ISE moved into Trinity over 20 years ago, the expertise of Michael could always be relied on. He was a safe pair of hands and helped us kindly and well, without regard to time. May all his family and colleague-friends find comfort in the memory of this good person.

I just found out about Michael's passing and am still in shock. He was a kind, caring and competent man who always made me smile. Whenever I got Michael on the end of the line I knew I would be taken care of. My deepest condolences to his family and close friends.
