My sincere condolences to all members of Michael Ryan's Family on your very sad loss of which I only learned of in recent days.
I had the distinct honour of serving under your father in the 80's at Rathmines Station as my officer and as my mentor he taught me invaluable lessons guided by his principles of truth and decency and above all his humanity. His passing has left the road ahead a little colder for each one of us who had the privilege of knowing him. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to the Ryan family on the passing of your Dad Michael. I met Michael in the early 1980s when as a young Garda I was sent to Terenure Garda Station - Unit A. He was such a lovely gentle man full of wisdom and knowledge which was invaluable to a young member. Thinking of you all at this sad and difficult time. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

It really has been a privilege to know Mick. He was my first Sergeant i/c in Rathmines. He was a truly calming influence in troubled times and a stalwart leader and friend. He was full of worldly wisdom and , some 38 years later, I still quote him on a regular basis. Mick was one of lifes finest. May he rest in eternsl peace.

Mick was my first Sergeant when I arrived in Rathmines Station in early 1984. He only ever supported, encouraged, backed up and educated my comrades and I, a true and natural leader, had a wonderful sense of humour, didn’t suffer fools gladly, no matter what their rank and left me with many gems of wisdom I treasure and still quote. A wonderful Garda, gentleman and Patriot.

Very sorry to hear of Michael’s passing. He was my first Unit Sergeant when I arrived in Rathmines Station in February 1983. He was a father figure to us all, and guided the men of Unit “A” through many difficult times. He was a wealth of knowledge through his reading and understanding of literature and world events. He will be long remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
