I wish to convey my sincere sympathy to all Michael’s family on his recent passing. Back the years he worked on building sites for our family building company D J Carbery. His father Billy worked for many years with the same company .I also bought golf balls from him. I would joke with him saying that I only rented them as I would lose them and he would find them and sell them back to me.
When we met we would talk back the years.

During the school holidays when the Da might employ me as his caddy, very reluctantly taking Mick from his bag and then losing balls that never happened when Mick was following the ball flight, I was properly trained by him on walking the angles of a golf course and occasionally and surreptitiously introduced and explained those slightly risque phrases that escape a golfers lips. He was a truly great and unique character who helped instill a love of golf and a particular affection for the wonderful Deerpark course. My sincere sympathy to the Thompson family RIP Mick a legend in your lifetime.
