Sincere condolences to Allyson, Meabh, Emer and all Michael’s extended family on behalf of the OCFA branch of FÓRSA, previously IMPACT. Michael is often remembered with great respect and fondness by those who knew him in the branch, and all those with whom he worked, and it was with great shock and sadness we learned of his passing. I worked with Michael during my time as National Secretary of Impact.
He was a valued colleague and friend.
He had a special intellectual capacity to be empathetic ethical and logical.

Shocked to hear of the untimely passing of my old school buddy Michael. He has left us far too early. Michael and I were in the same class at school from Babies upwards and his mother Joan taught us in First Class. He stood out as a person with great intellect — a brainbox as we'd say in those days 😀 — and a very gentle, kind person. A huge lover of books. In later years, I've seen him on the telly, always putting on a great performance. My deepest sympathies to his wife, children, siblings and wider family. He will Rest in Peace.

I am shocked to hear of Michael's sudden passing at such a young age. May I extend my deepest condolences and sympathy to Allyson, Emer and Meabh and all the extended family on their great loss.
I met Michael through our OCFA Branch of IMPACT. He was decent, ethical, and genuinely interested in helping staff. He told me that his Master in the primary school in Listowel was Bryan MacMahon who introduced him to the skills needed in football, education and life. After Bryan MacMahon's death, another Listowel writer said of him "The streets have lost their star. He was a giant and a gentleman, and we were lucky to have had him for so long."
I think the same can be said about Michael, he was a giant of intellect and human decency, a gentleman, and I was lucky to have known him, albeit for a short time.

Very sad to hear of Mike passing. Hope the Landers family find solace in Mike's legacy. Many condolences and hope he rests in peace.

I knew Mike initially through my friendship with John and subsequently through business. He was always very pleasant, kind and also very supportive in all ways. His intellect was very obvious with the way he could look at a situation from every angle and also question every possible scenario and outcome. Thinking of all who mourn Mike at this sad time. May he Rest in Peace.

We are so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. He was invaluable to our union work and had a wonderful style of communication that brought everyone along the right path. He will be sorely missed.

It was with shock and sadness that I learned of the untimely passing of Michael. My deepest sympathies to Allyson, Emer and Meabh and to the extended Landers family. I worked with Michael during my time as an officer of the Aer Lingus cabin crew committee. He was a skilled negotiator and communicator both with the cabin crew and at the negotiating table. He was very generous with his time and always ready to listen and to give good advice. Rest in peace Michael and thank you.

My sincere condolences and thoughts to Michael’s family. As an young IALPA Union representative for CHC Ireland Pilots (Irish Coast Guard Helicopter Service) Michael steered us on the path of union recognition. He took the time to meet our Norwegian Union colleagues on many occasions and gave presentations of the current airline issues of the time. He helped enhance our Terms & Conditions and his signature is still on relevant documents we work with today. We had many a disagreement on time management but he was one in a million. I’m a better person for knowing and learning from him. He was too young to get his angel wings/rotor blades but safe flying Michael, heaven is yours & I hope they break for coffee and biscuits.

As a voluntary rep for IMPACT/FORSA in the Oireachtas Ushers Branch both my fellow voluntary reps & myself had the great privilege of going into "battle" for the betterment of the Grade. Michael was a skilled negotiator & it was wonderful to see his masterly deconstruction of Managements viewpoint time after time. Michael was someone imbued with a strong sense of social justice which underscored his working life.

Michael hailed from the same part of the world - North Kerry - as my parents in law & we shared a passion for Gaelic Football. May his gentle soul R.I.P. Amen. 🙏
