I am sorry i cannot be with you in Ireland today. Uncle Mikey was a much loved uncle, a smile and laugh for all, truly known and loved by his local community. Such a soft spot for those in need, often seeing a”free” desk, fridge, chest of draws being dropped off to a home in need. Occasionally turned up at the door with a sweet (“best uncle this month!”) and gave me a guitar with 3 strings at 7years old telling me to enjoy the music that it could play and not what it couldn't, ever the optimist with a twinkle in his eye! And the person that inspired my interest and love of playing the piano, thank you uncle x.
I wish i had more time with you to understand your massive love of Ireland; your upbringing in what you said was a wonderful village that you were so proud to be from; Your love of Irish music, sport and; struggles with being part of a traveller community (which we often spoke ).
It breaks my heart that you passed alone in hospital, but i know you are not alone any longer. You have our wonderful family to keep you warn snd happy and free for illness now.
