Dear Cliona and Brian,
We were so sorry to hear of your Mum’s death recently. Our families had such a close connection in Foxrock and then later in Dartry too. I have clear memories of your mum as a strong and glamorous lady but with a smile for everyone. May she rest in peace.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to read of Miriam’s death in the Mount Anville ezine. Miriam and I were boarders in Mount Anville in the 1950s and bonded over rugby even though we were in different classes. We even plucked up the courage to request to listen to the international rugby matches on the radio. Miriam having an aunt, Mother Davy, in Mt Anville certainly helped and to our delight, our request was granted. I also spent many a happy Sunday afternoon on release from school in Orwell Road thanks to Miriam’s lovely Mum where I got to know Miriam’s siblings.
Our friendship continued for some years after leaving school, but the business of life and my going to live abroad intervened and we hadn’t been in touch for many years. But old friendships and kindnesses are not forgotten and I offer my deepest sympathy to Miriam’s extended family on the death of their beloved mother, grandmother and sister. May her gentle, generous soul rest in eternal peace.

Deeply saddened to hear of Miriam's passing. Hanlon and Davy families were friends for generations and I remember so well our teenage parties in friend's houses, especially around Christmas, dancing and singing the night away. Miriam, with her beautiful smile and empathy ,would brighten any such occasion.
She wrote me such a lovely letter when my beloved wife Verona went to Heaven and included a photo of her own beautiful, happy Hillery family.

I had the pleasure of knowing Miriam when we were on the clinical governance committee and the board of the Royal Hospital Donnybrook.
