I first met and worked with Miriam in a production of Carmen at the Royal Albert Hall. Her lovely personality and humour made a lasting impression on me. Years later when she came to sing The Mother in Hansel and Gretel at WNO I was overjoyed to share a dressing room with her and spend time getting to know her again. Her untimely passing has caused great sorrow and has been such a shock. I will never forget her.

Quite apart from your prodigious talent your radiant smile and wicked sense of fun and humour will make life so much emptier
So many great memories of times spent together!Always filled with laughter as were the glasses!!
So glad to have been at your last performances in Feb and hitting the heights at Cliffs of Mohan!!

Miriam was a great artist whose performances had me crossing seas to hear. I am grateful to have known her kindness, humour and soul.

Miriam's passing is a huge loss to all of us who knew her. I have so many fond memories of working with her, of being privileged to witness her unforgettable Turandot, Lady Macbeth, Brünnhilde. She was a fabulous singer, a true artist, and more than anything always tremendous fun. My sincerest condolences to all her family and friends. She will live long in our memories.

I knew Miriam from our time at music college. I send my gentlelest thoughts and sincere condolences to her family. She was a wonderful singer and had the most amazing laugh that would light up a room. The world will be a smaller place for her loss.

I met Miriam at music college and spent many happy times laughing, singing and gossiping together not to mention being fed delicious food at Hampton House! She will be sorely missed and I send my condolences to her family and friends.

I remember seeing Miriam first on the Late Late Show, singing the Habanera from Carmen. It was clear then, even as a mezzo, that this was an exceptional voice and performer. It wasn't until I came to London that I got to know her through our mutual great friend and soul-sister Úna Tucker, and later it was through Miriam that I went to learn with Neil Baker. Miriam was always the most encouraging, empathic and supportive of friends and colleagues.
I've encountered many people since she died who have told me stories of her legendary kindness. Not only did she encourage me as a colleague, but when I faced an eviction in 2016, Miriam was the person who stepped in, unasked, to find me a place at Hampton House, housesitting.
She had the most incredible presence as a performer as well. I just happened (by happy accident) to be in the audience when she was announced as going on at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Miriam grabbed her opportunity and completely won over the hearts and ears of the audience, which was an absolutely wonderful feat and testament to her huge talent and glorious voice and charisma.
Miriam held her friends close to her as a person of huge loyalty and integrity, and, in my observance, none more so than Úna, Neil and Amanda, and subsequently, Amanda's children. My deepest condolences to them, to her mum and family, because while we all miss her dreadfully, I know they will feel her loss most keenly. With much love to all, agus mise le meas, Gráinne xxxx
