My sincere condolences to all the family of Miss O"Donovan (Mary Ô) as we affectionately called her. She was an exceptional woman, before her time. I adored her English classes where she had a great sence of humour. I have her to thank for my husband - she passed on a phone message to me in leaving cert from a boy friend. May she rest in peace.

We were very sad to hear of Miss O’Donovan’s passing, she was a remarkable lady and I am delighted my two daughters got to know her during their time in the junior school and more recently at the secondary school. We are thinking of you all and hope that knowing the legacy Miss O’Donovan leaves after her provides you with some comfort at this time.

Sincere condolences to all Miss O'Donovan's Family & friends. Miss O'Donovan was such a lovely lady, our late father Michael White worked as caretaker in Scoil Mhuire many years ago and always had great time and things to say about Miss O'Donovan. When dad passed away in 2018, Miss O'Donovan wrote a beautiful letter to our mum about our dad, which meant so much to us. She was such a thoughtful person and such a gentle lady. May Miss O'Donovan rest in peace

Sincere condolences to Ms O’Donovan’s family. ‘Mary O’ was my Religion teacher in 5th year (class of ‘97) and she encouraged us to broaden our thinking and knowledge of other religions.
My Father Michael F. O’Connell, my Aunt Mary and Aunt Rita knew her as a child when they grew up in Monkstown.
RIP Mary O’Donovan and thank you for paving the way for so many successful women in Cork.

She taught three generations of of my family- My aunt, myself & my three daughters.
She drove my aunt Janet to school and brought her to Art exhibitions and Poetry readings in her spare time, a love which Janet enjoyed throughout her life. (Janet McAuliffe RIP - Class of '63)
I have such happy memories of my time in Scoil Mhuire during her reign as headmistress. She allowed us to thrive in our own way and helped raise generations of strong minded, independent women. She showed us in her quiet and compassionate way that 'respect begets respect' and I am so grateful that my daughters got to experience her presence and influence that she brought to so many.

Despite her heavy workload in Scoil Mhuire, she found time to volunteer in our day centre for homeless mothers and children and helped recruit other volunteers. She also raised awareness of social issues among her pupils and involved them in fundraising efforts. It was a privilege to have known her. Radharc na Trionóide go raibh ag a hanam uasal cneasta.

The huge number of past pupils at her funeral is a testament to the positive ways she influenced and shaped their lives. I was fortunate to witness her wonderful work at first hand and I will always be grateful for everything she did for me and for all that I learned from her. Cork has lost one of its finest.
