Moira HIGGINS

I was saddened to hear of Moira's death. She was a very special colleague in RTÉ - patient, kind, funny, warm hearted, wise and supportive with an endless capacity for empathy. And what an exceptional listener! Moira was equally respected and admired. With sincere condolences. Rest in Peace, Moira.

As we approach a month since Moira's passing, I'd like to join the many others in offering my sincere condolences to Bríd, Áine, Caitlín and their extended families. Moira was an exceptional woman who, as Welfare Officer in RTÉ, offered kindness and practical advice to her colleagues way beyond the call of duty. I was one of those people fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of this support, something for which I am eternally grateful. Sleep well, dear Moira.

I’m afraid that I only heard of Moira’ death (from Augusta recently) though I knew she was very Ill from Mary Willis.

Bríd, Áine and Caitlín, The Department of Applied Social Studies in Maynooth University learnt with great sadness of the recent passing of your wonderful mother Moira. As the esteemed wife of our former Head of Department, she was held in the highest regard and colleagues speak very fondly of her warm and welcoming nature, and her own contributions to the social professions. Those of us who arrived after your father’s tenure, had the great pleasure of meeting Moira at the Department’s recent 40-year celebrations, where she inaugurated an annual award in your father’s name. We hope that you will find comfort in the wonderful memories that your mother has left with you. We will remember both Moira and Seamus each year as we present a student award honouring their work.

Moira was a lovely caring person who did so much to help staff members and their families during difficult times. I had a lot of dealings with her when I took over doing the administration work for the RTÉ Benevolent Society. It was always a pleasure to meet her. I was always in awe of the way she could help those, often in distress, with such kindness, empathy and good humour. Rest easy Moira!

So very sorry for your great loss on Moira's passing She was just a very special lady and I was very privileged to know her as a friend, especially in the late '60's in UCD
She was at our wedding in 1971 and we had a lovely day when she and Seamus married in 1975.
