It was sad news to hear that my Aunt Mona passed away.
I have fond memories as a young lad of visiting my Grandmother and my two Aunties Mona & Shelia
Mostly I would visit on Sunday Mornings with my Dad and my sisters and brothers.we would go to church at St.Anne's in Dolphins Barn and after mass we would walk along South Circular Road past Players Wills cigarette factory where my Aunt Pansy (Mona sister) worked, we would turn left at Donore Ave (just before the Synogue) down past the White Swan Laundry heading for the Tenters and O'Donovan Road. When we arrived Aunt Mona would offer us kids a glass of Taylor Keiths lemonade and maybe a biscuit or a slice of Battenburg cake.Being that she was my Godmother she always gave me the biggest slice
Just before 1:00pm my Dad would say it's time to go home for dinner kids and all five of us would scamper out the door running to keep up with him as we crossed Sally's Bridge and up along the Canal towards home where my Mother was preparing corned beef, cabbage and roast pototoes for Sunday dinner and a trifle for dessert.
Thanks for the good memories Aunt Mona R.I.P.
