I am so saddened today, as I only just heard that Monica had died 10 days ago. What a special person she was. I can only speak of her in superlatives. Monica was the kindest, most generous, most thoughtful person I know. She thoùght well of everyone she met. It was an absolute privilege to have known her. It breaks my heart to think of the hand she was dealt, but she managed to remain positive about life. Sincere condolences to Dermot, Ber and your families. Also to Monica's siblings and extended family. Take comfort in knowing how much she loved you all.

I met Monica first time in Monica Guest House Calcutta, in January 2016. Since then, we met almost every year in January. She always said that Calcutta is a home away from home. Every night after volunteering, we had dinner together and had tea after that. What a memory! She always moved here and there, even in our day off. While I always love to stay in dorm on day off, Monica loved to visit places or friends. I met her last time right before covid and spent great time with her in Monica House. And it broke my heart to know that she passed away. She will be missed for sure. My sincere sympathy to her family.
