Condolences to all the family on your mother's sad passing. May she rest in peace.
I can only imagine the sadness you all feel today.
Your Mum made a difference to many lives throughout her life including mine. Always a warm welcome at the door, tea, chat and lots of fun. Your Mum had the knack of making everyone she met feel important, no matter their age she was interested. As a teenager I sat at the kitchen table discussing current news, art, politics, religion, history and putting the world to rights over dinner or a delicious cake made by Granny Jennings. I felt so grown up, accepted and included. I can still imagine her pouring over articles in the newspaper with a cup of coffee beside her waiting to discuss the latest news with the next visitor to the door.
A good Samaritan, always willing to help family, friend or stranger. Your Mum was there for me at the best and worst of times. A family trait, something you all do so well. I will always be grateful for her support and kindness.
I loved her very being, her childlike qualities of curiosity, fun and a naughty sense of humour, her joy de vivre, her intelligence and wisdom, her ability to lookout for the underdog, her kindness, her creativity and her uniqueness, she was one of a kind. I am so thankful for the happy times, unforgettable memories and the love shown to me. I am a better for knowing her and I will miss her so much. It is comforting to think that she has ‘only slipped away into the next room’ and she will be waiting to welcome us at that door.

I’m so sorry for your great loss. I’m honoured to remember Monica as one of the nicest and brightest people I have met and the Ave will be a sadder place without her warm and welcoming presence at that yellow door.
Ruth, Susan, Nick and grandchildren
Our deepest sympathies to each of you on the sudden passing of your wonderful mum and grandmother. We have so many memories of being in her company from such a young age, as I had growing up in Donnycarney. She was a great neighbour to my parents and this was added to when with my own family we were able to share her company with our son Sean. He never forgets your mum’s “secret garden and the great dinner parties we shared.” It would take so long and we could fill the page with wonderful memories of such a beautiful lady as your mum was.
But our memory is of a deep Christian lady who lived her faith out in real actions by opening her home and welcoming people. She was a fun loving person and such a person of principals and high morals and yet you always left her company a lifted person from having shared her laughter through her wonderful stories and banter. Her depth of knowledge on politics, Church, art, history was just mind boggling.
Please be assured of our prayers at this most difficult and painful time.
May Monica's gentle soul rest in peace.
