Father Peter was such a kind, friendly and warm man. He holds a very special place in my heart as he helped me to prepare for my wedding and baptised our two daughters. He will be missed by so many in the parish on which he left so great a mark and to who he taught so much. My heartfelt sympathies to his family.
Deepest sympathies on death of Monsignor Peter. Our condolences to the family. A wonderful Priest.
Sincerely,
Sincerely,
I was so deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Fr Briscoe and extend my warmest sympathies to his family.
I first met Fr Briscoe when he was in Sandymount. As a result of listening to his intelligent, meaningful sermons, and generally just making attending mass a much more rewarding experience, I asked him if he would oblige by marrying us.
Fr Briscoe would not have known us that well as we were only living in Sandymount a short time but he made our marriage a very special occasion. I always remember him referencing – Katie Melua’s, Nine million bicycles in Bejing as part of his sermon in a perfect way. He was very up to the minute.
Later I was living in Blackrock but managed to get back to Milltown just to hear him say mass again.
I am sorry to have missed his funeral but really wanted to also acknowledge what a wonderful priest he was and that he made such a difference.

My deepest sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Peter. His scholarship is rightly acknowledged, as are the many acts of kindness he extended as a faithful servant of the Lord. I had the privelege of knowing him since seminary days. Not everyone knows of his exploits as a second row on the all conquering Clonliffe team of '69 to '72. (truthfully - we won two games in that time.) But they will never be forgotten.

Our sincere condolences to Mgn. Peters family and friends. He was a quiet, considerate and thoughtful person. Always listened carefully and sympathetically to everyone but was decisive when necessary. He was a genuinely nice person and his sermons on Sunday were knowledgeable and informative but easy to understand. He was a wonderful pastor and administrator. We were blessed to have him. A man who truly lived the Christian life.

We offer our sincere condolences to Monsignor Peters family. He was a noble, gentle and very thoughtful man. At very short notice he stepped up to marry us. My mother ( Sheila Glennon, Longford) was especially delighted as she discovered Peter was a distant cousin. He laboured long and hard on behalf of his parishioners. May he rest in peace.
It has been such a privilege and pleasure to have lived beside Fr Peter the last few years. He was kindness personified and was always so pleasant even during his illness. We are very sad to hear about his passing and thinking about his very caring family at this time.

Peter has been a teacher, rugby enthusiast, priest, guide and model for me and all of us blessed to be his student, colleague, friend and co-diocesan priest. Peter stood taller than most and his physical stature was but a sign of his being a giant in our world. He rarely lost his composure, and radiated a calmness that made every challenge manageable. His loss is deeply felt by all who knew him and we now commend him to the God he served so well, may his gentle soul abide in heavenly light for all eternity. May his sisters, family and friends be consoled by trusting in the God of love who Peter knew so well.
Rest in peace Fr.Peter

My condolences to Fr. Peter’s extended family and to his very many friends. Fr. Peter was a biblical scholar who carried his great wisdom lightly and whose very interesting sermons were enlightened by his scholarship; he was a very kind man whose empathy made people feel very special. I wish to offer my sincere sympathies to Fr Peter’s devoted sisters, his extended family, friends and colleagues, in their profound grief at this very sad time.
I’m deeply saddened at the death of Fr Peter, his loss is huge, as he brought compassion, integrity, knowledge of the scriptures and so much more, with unselfish dedication, to his ministry in Milltown. We were privileged to have had him in our midst and were
greatly affected when we learned of his ill health. That his suffering is now no more, is a consolation, knowing that his gentle soul is resting in the peace and love of the God he served so well. RIP
