Very sorry to hear of the sudden death of Monsignor Richard Mohan. I got to know him when he was dean of residence in Saint Macartan's seminary , Monaghan in 1972 and then later on when I was a pilgrim on Lough Derg.
He was "one of a kind" and unique in his character. He will be fondly remembered by all the pilgrims who visited during his long tenure as Prior . His homiies at the morning masses were inspirational ,that's if you could stay awake to hear him if you had been up all the night before on Vigil.
Lord have Mercy on his soul.He will be greatly missed by his Family, all his friends and his fellow priests and Bishop LarryDuffy in the Clogher Diocese.
Remembering a lovely human being, priest and confessor from our visits to island of Lough Derg. Sincere sympathy to all his family and friends on his sad and untimely death. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
Saddened beyond measure to learn of Fr Mohan's sudden passing.. Heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends at this very difficult time.

I have the very best and fondest of memories of time spent on Lough Derg with Fr. Mohan. He was a joyous constant in the lives of Lough Derg pilgrims for many, many years. An assured and reassuring presence on the island keeping a watchful eye on all from outside the Nurse's station, always available for a quiet chat or to offer words of encouragement. A man of extraordinary vision and determination spearheading impressive initiatives to protect and preserve the island for future generations. Although his term as Prior of Lough Derg came to an end some few years ago Fr. Mohan remained and remains inextricably linked with the island, oft remembered and fondly recalled by pilgrims, forever in our hearts.

We are now the lesser for his passing but greater for having had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest in peace, Fr. Mohan. Thank you for everything.

Norma
My sincerest condolences to Mgr. Richard's family and friends. His work in developing Lough Derg showed great foresight and determination, and benefitted everyone making the pilgrimage. It was only later that I became aware of his significant involvement with County Monaghan Motor Club.
Saddened to hear of the sudden death of Monsignor Richard Mohan. He was a bright light in Lough Derg & made my pilgrimage so enjoyable. Rest in peace & enjoy your reward in heaven which you truly deserve.
Rest in peace Father Dick... you certainly deserve it. There are a few people who make this world a better place and Father Richard Mohan was definitely one of them... and the world is now a poorer place. I remember once on Lough Derg he advised me 'to leave no stone unturned' and when I was remembering him today I thought.... that describes him perfectly as he always gave 150% of himself and definitely never left any stone unturned. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family... but most especially to his Lough Derg family. Rest assured Fr Dick... your legacy will live on and you will not be forgotten.
Sincere sympathy to Fr Richard's family at this very sad time,
I met your brother when in national school & he was very intrested in my name & explained that it had originated in Fermanagh.
He sent me a lovely book of St. Fánchea which I still cherish to this day.
May Fr. Dick Rest Easy in Heaven.

Sympathy to Fr. Mohan's family and friends and to his religious brothers and sisters, he was a great man in Lough dderg. Condolences to all his Lough derg friends also. I had my differences with him while I worked there one summer but I admired his work and commitment greatly and the next year I was back as a pligrim and as I was leaving on the 3rd day he shook my hand as I was getting on the boat and he had that great smile as if to say all is forgiven. I admired his work and in hindsight now I can say Fr Richard "you were a great Sheppard of your flock".
It was with great sadness I learned of the death of Fr. Dick RIP....Knew him in the 70s and 80s...Lough Derg...Cork20 rally..He was a priest for our time...a warm, decent, loving human being, a skilled communicator , a listener with a great sense of fun... he wore his spirituality lightly..his every action spoke to the sacramentality of the whole of life....An immeasurable loss. Deepest condolences to the Mohan family, to Geraldine and to all who loved him..

I was very sad to hear the sudden passing of Monsignor Richard Mohan. I have fond memories of the 3 day pilgrimage whom I went wit my dear mum who has since passed away. His soothing gentle comforting voice, made my experience on lough derg rewarding. I always reflect and look back at that wonderful experience on the island especially waking up 6.30 a.m mass, mum and I walking down the steps and seeing swans in the lake was just beautiful and going to mass so early that morning will never leave my memory.
A few months ago I went to mass in my local parish and a different priest said mass, the minute he spoke I knew straight away it was Fr. Richard Mohan, after 15 years from my lough derg experience, I recognised his gentle voice, and instantly I felt i was back in lough derg again.
Deepest sympathy to his family.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
Amen
So sad to hear of the untimely death of Fr. Richard. Like other pilgrims who visited Lough Derg I have such fond memories of meeting Richard who always had an infectious smile and a warm welcome for everyone. His compassionate regard for the well-being of pilgrims stood in stark contrast to some of the other Priors whom I encountered over my many years there.
I pray that God will reward him for all of his kindness and goodness which he gave so selflessly to others. He surely deserves to be elevated to the rank of sainthood. May God comfort his family and friends at this sad time.
Sincere Condolences to all Fr Richards family. Fond memories of a lovely, sincere, dedicated, man from our years in Lough Derg. May he rest in eternal peace.

During my many pilgrimages to Lough Derg through the years. I have such fond memories of him. He was so much part of the whole pilgrimage experience, he was always there, the face of Lough Derg. I recall his beautiful gentle voice at 6am (wake up call) to pilgrims on the morning of the 3rd day, in preparation for 6:30am Mass, the powerful homily delivered. Leading us in the singing of ‘Hail Glorious St. Patrick’ as the boat departed. He was always so approachable, friendly & welcoming, had time for everyone. May he rest now in heavenly peace forever. Thank you Fr. Mohan.🙏
Our sincere condolences to Fr Mohan's family, Bishop Larry & the priests of the Clogher diocese.
