We are very shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mort. We have known Mort since the late 1980’s and during all that time we enjoyed countless days and nights of fun, friendship and excitement in his company as our paths criss-crossed the country for many of those years on the Motorsport and Hillclimb Championship circuit. Mort was a most respectful, courteous, and helpful gentleman inside and outside the sport and was well known as such. He takes with him a little slice of history. To Teresa, Gráinne, Niamh, Mark and all of Mort’s extended family we offer our deepest condolences on your very sad loss. May his gentle soul Rest In Peace.

Deepest sympathy to all the O Loughlin family on the sad death ot Mort. The Mc Namara family,7 children moved to Athgarrett,Naas Co Kildare in May 1947 from Gregans. He always followed up all the visits made by the extended over the years. I married the youngest Patrick who sadly passed away in Feb. 2021. My son Pat has taken over the farm and manages to keep it in tip top shape along with his work as an electrician. My sister in law Rita Vance is the last surviving member at 86. She always called into Peggy Vaughan her godmother on her visits to Clare. She's very sorry to hear of Mort's death. She was delighted to be in Croke Park this year to see Clare beat Cork a thrilling game. I have a great interest in Clare
myself as my mother hailed from Corofin.

Mort was the welcoming smiling face of Ballyvaughan to hundreds of visitors to County Clare. His dedication to the community was only matched by his commitment to Teresa and their lovely family - Gráinne, Niamh and Mark. We extend our deepest to the whole family including Liz, Niall and Beibhinn,Iarlaith and Fiachna. Mort had a prodigious memory and an amazing knowledge of the Burren and its people. Our family ( the McConnells) have known the O’Loughlins since 1938 when Mort’s dear Mam, Lily, was a young woman. It is a friendship valued and treasured by us as we renewed our friendship with the O’Loughlin Clan in September just gone. Our memory of Mort is warmed by the great night of song, music and chat we had in Cathleen & John’s fine restaurant with Mort present. We extend our sincere sympathy to Teresa and family and to Bridget Ann & Jim, Cathleen & John, Mary, Elish, Padraig, Noel, Kevin & Agnes.

I am sorry not to be able to get to the funeral. Mort was so welcoming, kind and generous with his knowledge and advice when we first came to Ballyvaughan. It was always a pleasure and a privilege to meet with him, have a chat or walk the fields together looking for traces of all of those people who lived in the valley before the Famine.
