Our deepest condolences to Rita and the rest of the McInerney family on your loss. Murt was a true gentleman who was always spoken of with the highest praise both in our family and the wider Scariff community. The hospitality afforded all visitors to Doonbeg and the stories from both on and off stage were legendary, including real life dramas where our father Alan would only just get home in time to open our shop the following morning. Only just recently, Murt posted a similar message following Gina’s passing in June and we were very grateful for that. Rest in peace Murt.

My sympathies to the McInerney family on the passing of Murt. May he rest in peace.
Murt was a big man with an even bigger heart — and a voice so kind it could calm and charm any person I only knew him a short while in his 87 years, but he taught me more about character, strength and grace than most learn in a lifetime. Soon I was honoured (or gently press-ganged) into chauffeuring Murt and Rita around Clare. On twisting roads, he distracted me from potholes with Shakespeare, poetry, tales sparked by old cottages or half-forgotten names. Everyone knew Murt. Even now, people share how he inspired them — just as he did me. He leaves a deep void, but every clever line, play title, old house, sunset or crossroads in West Clare fills it again. God bless you, Murt. Keep watch from above; we’ll think of you from below, till we meet again.
Murt was a wonderful guide to our trip to Ireland (several years ago). We were teachers ourselves and enjoyed our time with him. He loved talking about his family that he was SO proud of.

Deepest sympathy to all the Mc Inerney family on the death of Murt. I served with Murt for many years in the FCA and I have many happy memories of our days in camp and on training exercises. He was a true gentleman and an inspiration to everyone he met . I admired his honesty, his integrity and his kindness. He was a true "Doonbeg man" and was very proud of his native parish and of all the organisations he was involved with GAA , Drama, Fianna Fail ,The Church etc.
He was indeed a special and gifted man with a great turn of phrase and a quick wit He will be sadly missed but will be fondly remembered by all who were lucky to count him as a friend
