Sincere sympathies to Bishop Willie Walsh’s nieces, nephews and extended family on his passing. Bishop Willie taught me in St. Flannan's in the 1990's. When he left Flannan's to go to the Ennis Parish, he wrote to his students telling us of the move. Included in that letter was a handwritten personalised comment for each of us. A wonderful man, who never forgot us. It was always a pleasure to meet him in later years, usually after a hurling game and catch up.

May Bishop Willie rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to all who loved and will miss Bishop Willie.
He lived his life with a positive view, he watched out for and had a concern for the marginalised and the poor. He did not look over shoulders for people deemed more important.
He was forward thinking for the good of all. No flamboyance for this kind and gentle man. He should be viewed as a template for all clerics.
May this saintly person be resting peacefully in his heavenly home and praying for us all.

Rest Easy Bishop Willie you have left the Earth with such a legacy going forward. You showed kindness, compassion, a listening ear, always doing what you thought was the right thing to do. What a dear and lovely man God has taken from us. As Medical Officer to the Killaloe Diocese Pilgrimage I travelled on many occasions with Bishop Willy to Lourdes. He was more to me than a Spiritual Director- he was a friend. I remember fondly one night when he joined me and my son Brian Patrick for dinner. Between them they had a great discussion (.......and the odd glass of red wine) about Spirituality and the Medical basis behind some of the Lourdes miracles. An unforgetful night for everyone. I have known Bishop Willie Walsh since he was one of my teachers in St Flannan’s College in the 1960s. A kind and patient teacher especially when I had no affinity for maths

In the 1990s when he was the administrator in the Pro Cathedral in Ennis he was very kind to my parents Bill & Eileen who held him in high regard.

On occasion over many years I called on him to help with a particular issue or to make a connection with someone. He always obliged.

A gentleman and a gentle man.

Sincere sympathies to Miriam and all the Walsh family on the passing of Bishop Willie, RIP. I have fond memories of him saying Mass in Camblin years ago, with his mother in the front row. And in later years, of a lovely celebratory Mass when he became Bishop and blessed a new baptismal font erected in his honour. We were always pleased to see him coming back to say Mass in Camblin, where his religious journey first began. May he rest in Peace.
