Dear Ann, Ross and Shane. Sincere condolences on the sad passing of your lovely husband and father. I met him when I was a teenager and was so taken by his gentle and caring nature that he was my inspiration in choosing a career as a doctor myself. For that I will always be grateful to him. For me as a student and a junior doctor, it was always a pleasure to be in his company. Mr Tobin has left a wonderful legacy as a doctor and as a great role model as a person generally. I cannot speak highly enough of him. May he enjoy his well-earned Rest in Peace. Suaimhneas síoraí dó.

I was very sorry to hear, only recently, of Kieran's death. My sincere sympathy to his wife and family. I got to know him when we were both members of GUH Arts committee and very much enjoyed his company - I can echo the many opinions that he was indeed a kind and gentle man. I’m so sorry to hear of Kieran’s passing. He taught me ENT IN UCG and was a consummate professional and gentleman. He treated us medical students with such kindness, dignity and respect and for that, we were truly grateful. So sad to hear the news of Kieran’s passing. An absolute gentleman, a superb mentor and a true example of what all physicians should strive to be. It was my privilege to have him as an educator and for a time, share responsibility with him for patients with head and neck cancers.

So sorry to hear Kieran had passed. One of the nicest people that we had the privilege to encounter throughout the many years of his professional career as an ENT consultant and later on as an artist when he took up painting following his retirement. He was a true gentleman in the real sense and our hearts are tinged with sadness at the loss of his always endearing company. He was really proud of his family and always tried his very best to make sure they were looked after. He cared about everyone and that is why he was so special. Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís. I am so sorry to hear this news. Mr Tobin was my first ENT consultant and managed my care from when I was a teenager. I have nothing but lovely memories of his gentleness and good humour. He set the bar very high for those who came after him! A gentleman and it was a privilege to have been in his care.

Saddened to hear this news--we met Kieran many years ago when our daughter was a patient of his--on more than one occasion i might add--he always put you at ease with his gentle voice and lovely smile and not forgetting his utmost professionalism--over the ensuing years when we occasionally met he would remember the face and stop for a quick chat--a most unassuming man--

So sorry to hear today Kieran of your passing. I believe I was your record patient for the most operations in one person for grommets in my ears that you carried out. We got there in the end and down to you and your gift as a doctor my hearing has never failed since. I'm so glad after 20 years of not being in contact to have found you and made contact with you to thank you eight months ago. Having just moved to Galway I was so looking forward to meeting you in person again and to see one of your beautiful exhibitions. Alas this wasn't to be.
