We are so sorry to hear the terrible news of Muriel's passing. Our sincere sympathies to all her family and friends. We met her on a few occasions in Cloughjordan at Thomas MacDonagh commemorative events, and it was always a privilege to be in her company. She possessed that fine balance of pride and humility, in equal measure. May her kind soul rest in peace.

Muriel was a very special person, full of life and energy and always a delight to meet and chat to. She was passionate about history and a fountain of knowledge about her family the MacDonaghs and the Giffords and the 1916 Rising.
She was so kind and helpful to me when I was researching and writing my book 'Rebel Sisters' about the Gifford sisters Muriel, Grace and Nellie and the huge part they played in The Rising and Ireland's fight for freedom.

She loved all her family dearly and was so kind to everyone. She will always be remembered fondly by all of us who had the good fortune to know her.

She was a fascinating person to know, always full of interesting knowledge she was keen to share, and so generous with her time and insight. She was truly dedicated to volunteering in so many capacities, encouraging creativity and forging connections. She combined the wisdom of her age with a youthful outlook and spirit.
I think of her often and always will. She very kindly gave me three of her handmade pieces of pottery which I will always keep to remember her creative and dynamic spirit. I am very grateful to have known her. My deepest condolences to her family - she was so proud of you all.
