Myles Kelly

I met Myles when I worked as an apprentice in the 80’s. He was a kind man and was very good to myself and my brothers. Condolences to his family, may he rest in peace.

Sincerely sorry to hear about Myles's passing. I was fortunate to have known him as a work colleague. A good friend, he was held in high regard by his peers and by those who worked alongside him. My condolences to his family and lived ones. May he rest easy 🙏🏼

Over the years we talked about his retirement,his sailing across the Atlantic and his family , in particular his grandchildren, as well as the mundane details of sailing. Myles was a giant of a man, fond memories of him in Liberty Air, he was always one when you were in trouble to give you the best life advice and he was always right. No matter how big or small, you could always depend on him. He was kind thoughtful and had such a great sense of humour. There's not many like him 🙏

For the past 15 years, I have had the privilege of sailing alongside Myles on Maranda. Over that time, our shared adventures on the water grew into a deep and cherished friendship. Myles wasn’t just a passionate sailor; he was an extraordinary human being.

He taught me countless things—about sailing, about resilience, and about living life to the fullest. His approach to life mirrored his approach to the sea: come rain, hail or shine, Myles always showed up. He savoured every moment, tackled challenges head-on, and never, ever gave up—whether facing the fiercest winds or a becalmed sea.

He was a man who inspired everyone around him to embrace life with courage, joy, and determination. I will miss him more than words can express, but the lessons he imparted will forever guide me, both on and off the water.

We are so sorry for the loss of both Myles and Angela in the last short time. They were much part of Westfield Park and will be missed a lot.

I learnt of Myles’s passing with shock and deep sadness. He was a great competitor, sailor and a big part of Dublin Bay sailing, we will miss him. My sympathies and condolences to his family and friends.

Extending my deepest sympathies to everyone who loves Myles, particularly you, my dear friend Roisin. May he rest peacefully.

I am so sorry to hear about Myles, my sincere condolences. He gave me and so many others an introduction and a strong passion for sailing. It’s something that I still have today and can now pass onto my own family, all thanks to him. His competitive spirit pushed everyone on and made us all better, all whilst having great craic along the way. Equally as fun as the sailing was the debrief in DMYC over some food with our competitors, the tension from the racecourse soon forgotten. He will be missed but I’m very greatful to have known him.

My condolences to all of Myles’ family and friends on his passing. I had the pleasure of sailing with Myles on a few occasions and he was a total gentleman; with great knowledge and sense of humour, which he happily shared with a novice like me.

Myles was such an amazing person, I sailed with Myles in 2015 and between the amazing generosity of Myles teaching me and the brilliant political and state of the world debates, I’ll never forget Myles and always remember him every time I’m looking out to dublin bay. My huge sympathy to all the Kelly’s and those that knew and loved Myles.
