Kennys of Cortoon, memorable people, memorable times. Fond images of their original shop and pub – a thatched building, old-world, classic design, run by women. Decent community women, strong and direct, who treated their customers well. They came from miles around – cycling, walking, crossing fields – to shop in Kennys. They came on Sundays after Mass, they gathered in the pub too for a night’s drinking. Nancy’s death not only brings to an end Kennys of Cortoon; it also closes an era, a memorable era.

Sad to hear of Nancys passing. We always enjoyed our visits with Mam to Nancy and Mary when we were kids. They were always so generous and welcoming. I hope they are all having a good catch up above today. Rest in Peace

Growing up in the 60s Kennys was the heart of Cortoon village. Nancy, Mary & Mrs Kenny were always there in the shop & pub, wonderful ladies with hearts of gold. So sad that they are all gone now. Condolences to Tony & Bernadette.
