RIP to one of life's great characters. I had the pleasure of working with Natasha (and many other fabulous young people from the O'Devaney Gardens area) when she was a student in Basin Lane Youthreach- which was back the first year or so of my career in Youthreach.
I was sadly not to remain in regular contact with the young people from O'Devaney since Basin Lane Youthreach was to move to become Crumlin Youthreach-(I think the move meant we did not keep in contact as I would have liked to- we may have had it stayed in Dublin 8). Thankfully, some of them knew where to find me in order to let me know about the loss of Natasha. She was so vibrant and fun, and made me and my colleagues laugh so many times. The funeral today was absolutely beautiful, a very fitting send off for this fabulous young woman who was taken way too early. The music and readings were lovely and Samantha's eulogy was very special given in summed Natasha up so well and included anecdotes from Natasha's time with me at Basin Lane recounting some special memories. I have met a lot of young people over the 20 years of my career to date and I try to remember them all, but sometimes fail as of course it's not possible to remember all of them. Suffice to say that Natasha and her wider group remain very special to me and I can honesty say there is no fear that I will never forget her. RIP lovely girl.
