Darling Neasa. What a privilege to know you from the day you were born. You have brought light and love to everyone you encountered, but none more than your parents, brothers and daughter. To say you are utterly adored is an understatement!

You built a life in 31 years that many octogenarians could only dream of. What could you have done in 62? In 93? We’ll never know. But your legacy of wit, joie de vivre, generosity of spirit, and intelligence will live on through those you hugged, counseled, laughed with, listened to, taught and loved.

Every time we met, Molly was at the centre of our conversation. She’ll continue to be the centre. The world is hers, and it is a world filled with people who love her and her mammy.

Neasa, our hearts are broken. There is a crack that will simply never heal. Leonard Cohen said ‘there’s a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in’, and we have to hold on to that. I know you’re in a place of peace now, one where suffering and heartache are distant memories.

I’ll leave you with a line from a song that played on the many trips we took as children. I can still feel the summer breeze coming in through the windows, and feel your sandy hand in mine.

‘Slow down, you crazy child, take the phone off the hook and disappear for a while. It’s alright, you can afford to lose a day or two. When will you realise? Vienna waits for you’.

I was fortunate enough to spend some time working with, and even travelling with, Neasa on occasion. They were few, but they were also some of the most memorable.

She had the most unique way of putting everyone at ease and making anybody smile. You left every interaction feeling better than you did entering it. To know her was to love her and anyone who did know her knew just how much she cherished her Molly. Thinking of and praying for her and all Neasa’s family and friends at this heartbreaking time.

Neasa was a beautiful person inside and out. She had a caring, fun and kind nature that even us who hadn't known her too long could instantly see. Her family should be very proud of the person they shaped her to be, most of all her beloved daughter Molly. I hope you all take comfort in knowing that she made such an impact on so many people in her all to short life. I don't think anyone who met Neasa will forget her and will have a smile on their face when they think of her. Condolences to her all who knew and loved her.
