Dear Valerie,

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Neil, one of your boys. Gerry and yourself were so kind to me when my mam died unexpectedly at night in September 1964, we lived next door in No 22 Woodbine Park. I went in to you both as I did not know really what to do. Gerry I remember gave me a vodka and tonic to calm my nerves, I had never had one before, I was 18 at the time and Joan my sister was 13. Your lads are obviously a good chip off the old block. Your good happy memories will sustain you in the coming weeks.
