Deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to Ruth, the kids and all the extended family. It was a pleasure to meet Neill c6 years ago at work and we kept in touch on quite a regular basis on rugby, sport and politics related issues of the day. Very knowledgeable on a lot of topics and some interesting views which brightened my day! A gent also it must be said.

I was at school with Neill. Dagger was a great character who always did things his own way. Everybody liked him. His great talent as a mathematician and as an athlete marked him out. But the thing that defined him the most was his passion for getting involved. He took part in every activity going and threw himself 100% into everything he did. Deepest sympathies to Neill's family on your sad loss.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Neill. I had the great privilege of teaching him in 4th Class, in St Ronan’s. Neill was so very clever, especially at Maths. He certainly kept me on my toes! He was highly motivated, diligent and focused in everything he did but full of fun too. I want to express my sincere sympathy to George, Marie, Ita, the whole family and especially my darling Laura, whom I also taught.

Dear Ruth and family,

I was in school with Neill. He was so naturally talented at maths that the teachers made up different questions for him…. a real genius!
He was great craic, always up for a laugh and a bit of mischief. I hadn’t met him for many years but I believe he faced his last few years with great courage and determination… and of course humour.

I had the pleasure of being Neill's friend. He was genuine and great character. An ability to talk to anyone and always had a opinion.

We shared many great times together in the US and Australia. He packed it all in. I will treasure the places we visited, great times and stories we had.

Sports fanatic & maths genius, who passed the actuary exams sitting on a beach in Thailand!

When you introduce your pal as Dagger. Always the first question why do you call him Dagger!!! Always a great start to a conversation.

A great person, always there. He carried himself with great courage and optimism during the terrible disease.

I just heard of Neill’s passing. He was an exceptional student but also had humour and dedication to whatever he undertook. I never had the pleasure of teaching Neill but he was remembered fondly and with great pride as he progressed through secondary school, college and beyond.
