I have known and been in contact with Nevill ever since he was at school in, the late sixties/early seventies. On Sunday 6th February last, my daughter Gwendoline gave a short violin recital for Nevill, patient colleagues, and staff in the foyer of the Phoenix Care Centre. I accompanied her on piano, and we did a medley of songs by one of Nevill's most favourite groups, the Beatles. I remember him arriving down with the nurses in a special wheelchair, and sporting a pair of multicoloured slippers that would have been the envy of Joseph and his 'Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'! In spite of his condition then, Nevill sat serenely, listening to the songs we played, and the performance was enjoyed by all the residents of Birch Ward who were present. At the end of it all, Nevill asked for his 'proverbial cup of coffee, and this is my last memory of this great warrior! I thank you Nevill for all the great memories; you will always occupy a special place in our hearts. My love and best wishes to all who were close to him during his difficult life!
I was very sorry to hear about Nevill. He had a tough life, as did his sister Jean. We remember them from happier times and hope they are now at peace. Nevill loved music and I am glad that he was well enough to hear Gordon and Gwendoline Douglas play for him earlier this year.
We remember Nevill as a young lad he was a lovely young boy may he rest in peace.
Condolences on the death of Nevill, a friend at junior and secondary schools; his kind late sister Jean was a friend to my late sister Rosaleen from their school days at the Hall. May they all be at peace.
