Learning of the sad news of the untimely passing of Niall may I offer my sympathy to his wife Julia and his children Giles and Elena and to his brothers Paul, Brendan and Ciaran and his sister Loretta I offer my condolences at this most difficult time and on this Saturday in celebrating his life I recall the memory of my friendship with Niall, we were in the same year at school, the regular pitch and putt events on that cherished course and Niall coming with the clubs and golf balls. The football games in Ryan's Field on the corner of Coe's Lane as it was then and Mr. Byrne's Glass house in the garden next door... with a high ball, that was some fun!!. I think we even picked strawberries together in Blackrock. Childhood memories indeed and sadness that one of those who we played with has gone before us, but great memories...and he was good at school... very good and at pitch and putt... very good. Rest in Peace childhood friend.. My thoughts this very day are with you all.

RIP, Niall, an old friend and neighbor from the Point Road, shared many a happy day with Niall, and football every Saturday afternoon with the lads in St Helena’s park, always cheerful and happy to discuss any topic, thinking of Julia, Giles, Elena and the Connelly family.

Sincere condolences to Julia, Giles and Elena and to Nialls sister and brothers. Niall was a great friend for over 50 years and it's hard to believe we will never hear his big laugh again. So many great memories but in particular the night in 1984 we went to White Hart Lane to see his beloved Spurs win the UEFA cup final on penalties against Anderlecht. Rest in peace Nialler.

Fond memories of growing up beside Niall on the Point Road going to school together with Gerry Rice. Magical summers playing behind our houses especially Mr Connollys prized plot. Niall was always kind and had a wonderful smile. My sincere condolences to his wife and children in the US and to Paul, Brendan, Ciaran and Loretto another sad blow so soon after Kevin, Barry and your lovely Mum . Whilst I would have known Barry and Spats (Kevin) better, I remember Niall fondly from younger days in Dundalk, what now seems like a lifetime ago. Like all the Connollys, Niall was smart, sharp as a pin and with a wit to match. Somebody else has already said that the world is a much poorer place for his passing, and I would like to second that sentiment. Safe onward travels mate. Whilst it’s never easy, I will try not to mourn your passing but rather celebrate the fact that you existed in this world at all, and that I had the privilege of meeting and getting to know you (even a little). My sincere condolences to all the Connollys (especially Ciarán) and to Niall’s wife and children in the USA. – may love and fond memories one day overtake your pain. Thinking of you all.

So sorry to hear this news about Niall. Thinking of Ciaran, Elena, Julia and Giles and all those who loved him. I first met Niall when I was at St. Vincent's. We used to pass each other on the street...Niall on his way to CBS with his pal Barry. I can still see the famous anorak he wore with a yellow stripe down the sleeve. Taken too young and so soon after Barry. May he rest in peace.

I met Niall when I was 4 years old in Sister Paul’s babies class in Real Na Mara and we were lifetime friends. We lost touch for a while due to careers and geography but fortunately regained contact in recent years. Niall was a thoroughly decent chap and one of three special friends over my lifetime. I am heartbroken and my heart goes out to Julia, Giles, Elena and all of the Connollly family. God bless you all as you deal with this enormous loss. The world is poorer today. RIP Nialler.

I went to school with Loreto in Saint Vincents. Gerry Mc Cann my beloved brother died 2014 September 26th. I was so sorry to hear of the death of poor Barry. I also know Ciaran. Sincere condolences to you all. I have fond memories of beautiful Loreto. You had lovely blonde hair and we’re such a lady, with a lovely way of speaking. ❤️
