I was shocked and saddened to learn of Niall's death. He was a valued colleague on RTÉ's 'Nationwide' television programme, where I admired his energy, creativity, generosity of spirit, friendliness and enthusiasm. He had a ready smile and conversations with him were unfailingly positive and enjoyable. My sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

Happy memories of Niall as a former Presentation College school mate and thankfully reconnected with him through work with Down Syndrome Ireland years later. A true professional and genuinely lovely person, who will be greatly missed.

A kind, decent man who worked tirelessly to help the poor and homeless; a highly talented media professional who will be remembered for his ethics, wit and mentorship by many (including yours truly who worked with him when we were junior reporters on the Bray People); and clearly a wonderful man in his personal life.
