I had the honour of working with Niamh in Edinburgh. I will always remember her for her kindness, patience, humour, and many talents. Her enthusiasm was inspiring then and now, and she will continue to be a positive influence for many.
Dear Sean, shocked and saddened by the news of the passing of your daughter Niamh. Please accept my deepest sympathies to you and your loved ones.
I am really sorry to hear that Niamh has passed away. I am thinking of everyone at this sad and difficult time. She will have a very special place in all of our hearts always. May she rest in peace xxxx
Such a wonderful and thoughtful friend and colleague, Niamh was one of the kindest and most compassionate people I knew. She took everyone at face value and travelled through life with integrity, grace and gratitude.
To Niamh’s family, my heart goes out to you. If I am hurting right now, I can only imagine how you all must be feeling. This extends also to Niamh’s ‘unofficial’ family - her many friends that have made me feel so welcome at such an incredibly sad and stressful time. Niamh’s love for you all was clear and I have enjoyed learning about your friendships and adventures together.
Did - what a lovely wee family you and Niamh created. You worked so well together to navigate the many exciting and challenging moments you shared over the time I got to know you, and I am only sorry you cannot continue your journey together. Ollie and Sophie are already showing a beautiful mix of the two of you - in looks and mannerisms/personality - and I look forward to seeing Niamh’s legacy live through you all.
Finally, to reflect on Niamh’s wit, sense of humour and cracking laugh. Always ready to laugh at herself (and others, when appropriate). Even towards the end, we shared a good few giggles and I will hold on to those memories forever. At no point, however, did she tolerate me impersonating her accent despite her regularly taking the mickey out of mine… and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Love you long time, Niamhy.

On behalf of the Clinical Neuropsychology service NHS Lothian, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for Niamh’s time with us. Niamh came to our service for a placement during her Clinical Psychology Training and then joined the Clinical Neuropsychology service when she qualified. She was passionate about Clinical Neuropsychology and chose to develop her skills working with a wide range of patients across different areas of our services -including Neurorehabilitation and acute Neurology services. She quickly became a colleague we relied on for her gentle wisdom, compassion, curiosity and energy. Her work developing and evaluating service models and resources for our outpatient and groups program is in constant use and continues to make a real difference for our patients. The connections Niamh made at a personal level with all of those who knew her are truly treasured. My heartfelt condolences go to Niamh’s family and friends. Please know that we remember her with love and send our love to you.

I have nothing but fond memories of working with Niamh, she was a pleasure to work alongside and to chat with in the office and at lunch. She taught me so much about how to be a caring, compassionate and effective psychologist, and the cases we worked on together will always be so memorable and formative for me. I am at a loss for words to express how lovely it was whenever she was around and how enjoyable her company always was.

To David, Sophie, Ollie, and the McAleese Family,
I am so sorry for your loss and my thoughts go out to you all at this heartbreaking time.
Niamh was such a ray of sunshine and she was a great friend to me from the first moment that we sat beside each other at maths grinds. She was also the architect behind so many of our hilarious adventures and my favourite memories of our time at UCD.
She will be sorely missed and I will always remember her so fondly.
Sending love from Berlin.

To all the McAleese family, Niamh’s husband and her children. I am so deeply sorry to hear of the passing of your beautiful, daughter, sister, wife and mother. Niamh was truly a beautiful and special person and we met first when I moved to Alex. Welcoming someone new in school and befriending them speaks volumes of the kind of person Niamh was. Someone who was hugely kind, compassionate and empathetic and it is unsurprising to me she chose the career she had and I’ve no doubt that she would have been excellent at it. I am keeping you all and Niamh in my thoughts. May she rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to Niamh’s family. Niamh was a remarkable person and I'm very thankful that we met during our time together at UCD. Thinking of you all at this difficult time. May she rest in peace.
Niamh was the twin mum friend I needed as we navigated the early months of us having our twins together. Always making me laugh as we had our twin picnics, aiming to get cake wherever we went and taking 'the quads' for ice cream at breakfast.
My heart goes out to Did, Sophie, Ollie and her family at this heartbreaking time.
I will always remember our time together so fondly. I will miss you Niamh

My deepest condolences to all Niamhs family and friends.
Niamh was someone who inspired me, with her warmth and compassion, her creativity, her thoughtfulness and her sense of fun. She had a brilliant laugh.
It was hard to spend time with Niamh without feeling genuinely listened to and cared for. It's one of the many things that made her a great psychologist and friend. Like all who knew her, I will miss her and carry my memory of her with me.

I would like to send my sincere and heartfelt condolences to all of Niamh's family. I had the honour of working with Niamh and her warmth, kindness and creativity made her not just a talented psychologist but, quite simply, a wonderful human being. I am so glad I knew her and will miss her terribly.
My deepest condolences to Niamh’s family, she was a wonderful person all round and will be deeply missed by us all in Edinburgh.
David, Sophie, Ollie, and the McAleese Family I am so sorry for your loss.
Niamh was a wonderful person who lit up an entire room. She was bubbly and kind and brought the best out in us all.
One of my strongest memories of her is from the Longitude festival in 2015, with her broken foot, as she navigated the terrain with difficultly on her crutches, and in spite of this she still had a great time.
May she rest in peace.

I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to all of Niamh’s family. Niamh was a highly valued colleague and friend. Awe inspiring intellect and tenacity sitting quietly behind her generous smile and fun-loving personality; it was just such a privilege to work with her. Among her many talents, she had a rare ability to simplify the complex and make meaningful connections that were so valued by the people she met. She had a positive impact on so many lives and this will be remembered and carried forwards.
Sometimes we meet someone really special, someone who has done it all and can handle every situation with consummate ease. How did Niamh Roe become that person in her short life? My family were lucky to have known her for most of it. We recall the bubbly, sensitive loving child at birthday parties, but this amazing child moved almost overnight to become an elegant and beautiful young woman, educated to the highest level yet as grounded and caring as ever. Our entire family remain in awe of dear Niamh’s smooth transition to the wonderful wife and mother she became.
During her cruel and abrupt last illness, Niamh continued to be herself; patient and tolerant, graceful and uncomplaining. She has grown a whole new cohort of admirers among her nurses and doctors in Scotland, Dublin and Wicklow. It is so hard to write about this incredible human being in the past tense, but we take comfort in knowing that Niamh’s amazing legacy, her quiet personality, her example, her inner strength, will influence us all for many years to come.
Dave, Sophie, Ollie, Sean, Mary, Eamonn, Caitriona, Beth and family, we are ready with hugs and a helping hand as needed, as you know.

I am hugely sorry to hear about the passing of Niamh. My memories of her, from Alexandra College and later Goldsmiths, is of someone who had pure goodness running through her. Even in difficult times, she remained someone you could always rely on for kindness.
She also had the best room in our digs in Goldsmiths. Somehow, she turned a drab college dorm room into a cosy, colourful and warm place to be. It was surely a reflection of who she was.
Niamh was intelligent and talented, gentle and funny. I will always remember her fondly.
Sending my deepest condolences to her family.

What hard news. Niamh is missed very deeply at work, where she kept us going with vast doses of expertise and encouragement. My condolences to her family and friends. She was kind, gifted and v funny too.
We are so sorry to gather that Niamh has passed away. Niamh was much admired across the neuropsychology and the other services where she worked, she was respected very much as clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist. Most importantly, those who knew Niamh really liked her for her positive and vibrant approach to life. We are so sad to know that Niamh has died so young, our thoughts are with her family. She will be deeply missed.

I am deeply sorry for the loss of Niamh.
Niamh was a beautiful person. I remember how, the first time I met her, she told me in detail about the fairy she had seen in the tree across from our houses the previous night. It led to weeks of unsuccessful fairy spotting. We used to have such fun building dens, dressing up Barbies for fashion shows, and putting on plays that our reluctant brothers were forced to sit through. Niamh was always sweet and even-tempered, in spite of my bossiness.
When we were older we enjoyed many cups of teas and chats together, debriefing on events at school or on nights out. I'll always remember Niamh as kind and funny. She was a talented artist, a great listener and a beautiful presence to be around.
My deepest condolences to all of Niamh's family and loved ones. She will be remembered and missed by many.

I am working in her honour this week and will always be inspired by the energy and passion she brought into her work.
